Regarding FREE webinar to get more information on antimony and REACH

By end 2010, i2a will have prepared the REACH dossiers for Sb metal, antimony trioxide and sodium hexahydroxoantimonate for its members. Seven other dossiers will follow by the 2013 and 2018 deadline. Previous mails sent to all pre-registrants, have explained who i2a is and how we are helping our members to be ready for REACH.
As companies keep approaching us individually with similar questions, we organized a FREE webinar for companies (individually or their OR) intending to register one or more of our 10 antimony substances.

The following sort of questions were answered:

What does i2a do for its members regarding REACH?
What remains to be done for the individual member company?
Can an OR become member of i2a?
Can I just buy some data and not bother with membership of the consortia?
How much will REACH cost me?

Some summary conclusions of the meeting :

Summary of the membership chapter.

Make sure your substance is covered by the i2a work

• Sameness of the substance.
• All uses covered.
• Share the burden with all important players in the market.
• Correct science in your REACH dossier: data will be used for future worldwide regulation/legislation/permits...!
• Not responding = dormant = no need for registration

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE REACH GOALS REACHABLE (AFFORTABLE) to ALL !!!

Summary of the science chapter.

• The EU Risk Assessment report of antimony trioxide has been reviewed and approved by OECD
• i2a is using consultants that have a long time experience with antimony
• Read across as much as possible to lower the costs
• Very short REACH deadlines, so if you need a registration dossier, ensure your uses are covered in the dossiers NOW

Summary of the financial chapter.

• ECHA fees are lower if you are part of the joint submission
• i2a fees depend on tonnages produced/imported: add up all tonnages of all Sb substances for all your legal entities => 1 tonnage class for i2a
• Letters of access are an option as long as their price is fair – transparent and non-discriminatory for members and non-members
• The more companies join i2a; the less they pay: non-profit association
• No free ride for anyone
